News and Tidbits of Reality
2008 has brought good news to  two Indietude supporters.
As reported in our January issue Danielle Egnew signed a
record deal with Maurice the Fish Records.  Now, Sheena
Metal- the woman of many hats announced her good news
for February. Maurice the Fish Records has hired Metal as
their new A & R Director. She will be responsible for their
Los Angeles office. Fish Records will also be sponsoring
Sheena’s Wednesday Night Industry Showcase at the
Knitting Factory in Hollywood.

If that wasn’t enough, Metal has also been named music
editor for North Hollywood (NoHo) Arts District Magazine.
The magazine will also be sponsoring the Sheena and
Friends Showcase every Thursday at the Universal Bar
& Grill in North Hollywood. Lastly, Vox Music Group
named Metal as their news film and TV music supervisor.
She is already working on a number of indie film projects.

I don’t know about you, but after reading this announcement
I’m exhausted. I have one question Sheena - what vitamin
/energy drink are you taking?

Congratulations and Rock on girl!

It’s a dream that every artist or band has. You develop
your sound, get some gigs, find your audience and you’re
on your way. But the biggest bridge to artistic success is in
your songs. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. Ultimately, as
an artist, your songs will be your legacy.

God knows the Indie community has a wealth of song
writers. The talent is definitely there, but sometimes great
songs never see the light of day outside of the club circuit.
One possible outlet for your songs to shine in is the
2008 USA Songwriting Competition.

This competition is a great tool for getting industry exposure,
as well as a good tool that will help hone your skills in
selecting your best work for consideration. So, for all you
indie songwriters out there, it is time to spark your destiny!

Here’s the official press release from songwriting.net
